9/9/22

Happy Friday, Families!

We hope your students had a terrific first almost-full week in school! Teachers are taking advantage of the beautiful fall season to take long-missed field trips, and slowly but surely we are filling up the schedule with wonderful “pre-Covid” activities and traditions. You will no doubt hear some exciting examples from your children. I am sharing a few below in these announcements:

North Bennington Strings Program for Grades 3-6

The North Bennington Strings Program will be up and running again with Director Perri Morris, who will also be the Music Teacher for students in grades 3-6. Next Wednesday, Ms. Perri and Catherine Hall-Schor will demonstrate the violin and cello for students in grades 3-6, and sign-up sheets for this free program will be sent home. For more information, please see Ms. Perri’s letter and sign-up form on our website at this link: https://vsnb.org/strings-program-2022-23 (a hardcopy letter and sign-up form will be sent home next week). The deadline for returning the sign-up form to your student’s classroom teacher is September 21.

Band Lessons and Chorus

Carla Boyle-Wight will be teaching classroom music to students in Pre-K through Second Grade, as well as teaching Band (for grades 4-6) and Chorus (3-6 grade) to students who choose to participate. More information about band lessons and chorus, as well as sign-up forms are available on our website at this link: https://vsnb.org/band-and-chorus (a hardcopy letter and sign-up forms will be sent home next week). The deadline for returning the sign-up form to your student’s classroom teacher is September 16.

Friends of the Village School Volunteering & Leadership

This week we also resumed some of our inter-classroom partnerships, such as sixth graders helping to deliver lunches to Pre-K students; and we have been welcoming more volunteers again. We hope to bring back some popular Friends of the Village School events again like Track and Treat, the Holiday Bazaar, and the Winter Carnival. We are seeking volunteers and also event organizers. If you are interested in helping with coordinating an event, please mention this when emailing friends@vsnb.org

Picture Day – Tuesday, September 27th

Lifetouch will be taking students’ pictures on Tuesday, September 27. An order form was sent home with students and you can also order pictures online at mylifetouch.com. Please enter the Village School’s Picture Day ID: EVTVWVJZP.

We are seeking one or two Picture Day volunteers to help assist the staff and students at the school. Volunteers receive a coupon toward the purchase of their child’s portrait package. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to info@vsnb.org.

Illness Policy and COVID-19 Updates

While I would love to end this email without mentioning COVID-19, as we all know too well, the virus is still a reality we are contending with, even though we are getting closer to “normal.” Please take a few minutes to read our school’s illness policy, which includes updates regarding COVID-19. The illness policy is posted on our website at this link: https://vsnb.org/health-and-wellness/.

Enjoy your weekend!

Warm regards,

Tim Newbold
