Community Service
Giving back to our community and acts of kindness are an important hallmark of students’ experience at the Village School. We encourage students to be thoughtful and courteous, and we work to foster a culture of respect.

Here is a sampling of some ways, big and small, in which students made a difference in 2017-2018:
• The school’s Holiday Bazaar raised $758 for the local Food and Fuel Fund and for the Greater Bennington Peace and Justice Center’s initiative to send children to school in Somotillo, Bennington’s sister city in Nicaragua.
• 6th, 5th and 4th graders serve as reading partners to preschoolers, first graders and kindergartens, respectively.
• The 3rd graders help keep the school clean by taking out the garbage and recycling on a regular basis.
• The 2nd graders’ food drive provided families in need with a little extra cheer and nourishment in the 2017 holiday season.

Mission
Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child's curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves - responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
