School Closure Information
We are going into uncharted territory in the weeks ahead. There will be hiccups and lessons learned along the way, but please know that the Village School is here to support you through this challenging time. If you have any questions about the details below, or if any other questions or concerns arise in the weeks ahead, please reach out to the school office. We will be responding to email and phone messages on a daily basis. Contact us at 802-442-5955 or info@vsnb.org.
Picking Up Student Distance-Learning Work Packets:
All of the Village School teachers have prepared students’ distance-learning packages. Teachers are sending them home with students who are in school today. Teachers will communicate directly with families about their expectations for the work.
If your student is not in school today, you can pick up their assignments and Chromebooks (where applicable) TODAY from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tim Newbold also will be available in the lobby tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17, from 7:30-9 a.m. for families to pick up their student’s package.
Expectations/Returning Student Packets:
All students are expected to do their best in completing the work assigned. If your student is having difficulty completing the work and meeting the expectations, please reach out to your classroom teacher for additional support and/or possible modification of the work. Teachers will let you know when the work is expected to be returned. If it is supposed to be returned weekly, then please adhere to the school’s scheduled lobby hours for picking up and dropping off students’ work assignments.
Next week’s lobby hours for dropping off completed student assignments and picking up new student assignments:
•Monday, March 23 from 7:30-9 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m.
•Tuesday, March 24 from 7:30-9 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m.
When you arrive at the school, a staff member will be waiting in the lobby to bring your student’s(s’) assignments out to you. We are trying to make the exchange of work as easy and accessible as possible for all families. If you cannot pick up or drop off assignments at the times listed here, please contact info@vsnb.org or 802-442-5955 to arrange an alternate time. We will communicate on a weekly basis with updates and the next pick-up and drop-off schedule for students’ assignments.
Special Note for Health Care Workers and Vermonters Essential to the COVID-19 Response:
If you fall into one of the categories listed below, and your family will be in need of childcare during the school closure, please let Tim Newbold know immediately at tnewbold@vsnb.org or 802-442-5955 ext. 201. He will do his best to secure child care.

Mission
Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child's curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves - responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
