October Greetings, Families!
Thank you to the many students and staff members who participated in our first round of COVID-19 surveillance testing this week. This monitoring definitely adds another important layer to our efforts to help keep the school community safe, and we were pleased with how easily and smoothly it went. If you have not enrolled your student yet, you can use the CIC Health consent form to do so at any time. The next round of testing will be on Wednesday, October 6. Click on this link to read more about the COVID-19 surveillance testing.
All classes are enjoying their weekly field trip to the Hiland Hall Gardens, where students learned about beets while eating cupcakes with pink frosting made from beets and they harvested the potatoes they planted last spring!
We would like to remind everyone to please have your students do thorough tick checks at home on their garden day. It is also helpful for students to wear long sleeves and long pants (ideally tucking their pant legs into socks) and high boots. Thank you to Garden Director Sandra Magsamen for gifting animal-inspired masks to the Pre-K and Kindergarten students. You can see a fun picture of them below.
Picture Day is coming up on October 13. If you have any questions about Lifetouch’s safety protocols, visit www.lifetouch.com/covid19. Lifetouch flyers were sent home with your student(s) last week. You can also order online at mylifetouch.com using our schools Picture Day ID code: EVTNDW7DR.
The menu for October breakfasts and lunches is now available at this link: https://vsnbfood.abbeygroup.info/menus.aspx. Your student should have received a hardcopy, as well. There’s one UPDATE: French toast sticks will be replaced with pancakes for lunch on Monday, October 4 and for breakfast every Wednesday in October.
As we look ahead, please make note of these upcoming October Calendar dates:
- Monday, October 11th – No School – Indigenous People’s Day
- Friday, October 29th – Half Day Dismissal at 11:30 a.m. for Teacher In-Service Day
Have a wonderful weekend!
Tim
