POSTED 12/14/23

Dear Families,

We look forward to seeing you at the Village School’s holiday-themed Fantastic Friday tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 15) at 2:15 p.m. in the gymnasium. All grades will be participating in this special mini concert. Following the assembly, students will return to their classrooms to get their belongings before dismissal.

Tomorrow wraps up our Holiday Spirit Week with National Ugly Sweater Day! If your child doesn’t have an ugly sweater and wants to participate, we saw plenty of homemade creations last year. Some of my favorites were everyday sweaters transformed with garland, ornaments, and even twinkle lights!

Holiday Bazaar Success: Many thanks to our sixth graders and their teacher, Mr. Kasulinous, for a terrific job organizing and overseeing this year’s Holiday Bazaar. Our whole school can be proud of raising $903 for charity. The process of selecting only one or two charities was not easy with so many deserving local nonprofit organizations. The sixth graders researched the organizations, reported on them, and discussed the merits of each before voting by Australian ballot. They ultimately chose the Greater Bennington Community Services and the Bennington Sports Foundation as the recipients of their charitable giving, donating half of the proceeds to each organization.

The Holiday Bazaar would not have been possible without gift donations from so many of you, as well as all who volunteered to set up the Holiday Bazaar and assist students with wrapping gifts. I personally loved seeing our older students helping younger students select gifts for family members and hearing about their finds! Click here to enjoy photos from the Holiday Bazaar.

In case you missed these upcoming happenings, here’s a recap:

  • Santa in the Stable at the Park-McCullough Carriage Barn on Saturday, December 16, from 1-4 p.m., with a line up of holiday treats and activities, including an arts and crafts table hosted by the Village School First Grade class. Click here for more details.
  • Tuesday, December 19 – Holiday Concert at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. All students and families are invited for this evening performance featuring Band, Chorus, and Strings Program members.
  • Second Grade’s Food Drive concludes on Tuesday, December 19. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the main lobby, and second graders will be counting these and delivering them to the food shelf at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. As Mr. Ulrich wrote in the food drive flier: “Thank you for helping others!”

Warm regards,
Tim
