Third Grade teacher Karen Hamm, said: “While pi is not a part of the third grade math curriculum, some of our scholars have heard of it, and as a class we enjoyed some pie during our snack time. We are learning about the area of a rectangle, however, so the students were interested to hear that pi is related to the circumference and area of a circle, and that they will learn more about pi when they are a little older.”

Dear Families,

Yesterday I sent an email on behalf of the Village School Board of Trustees asking for the assistance of parents and caregivers of students in grades K-6 to participate in the Village School’s outreach survey. The survey takes 10 minutes or less to complete, and I can’t emphasize enough how much it matters to hear your thoughts about our school. All feedback is appreciated and supports us in our efforts to continually improve what we do for the benefit of our current and future students. A hardcopy version of the survey is being sent home with students in grades K-6 as well.

Teachers are in the process of finalizing progress reports for the second trimester, and these will be sent home with students next week. We’ll also be sending out more information next week about the upcoming STEM Night for students in grades K-6. Please save the date of Thursday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m.

For those of you who get excited about today’s date (3.14) like I do, have a happy Pi Day ! I know the third graders enjoyed celebrating this day, because the photo on our website of students enjoying slices of pecan pie and summer berry pie while learning about the significance of “pi” says it all.

Warm regards,
Tim
