Dear Families,

I am pleased to share that the Village School will be expanding its Pre-K program for the 2023-2024 school year in order to double the number of spaces currently available. We made this decision to better serve the increasing interest and need within our community and region for high-quality Pre-K programming.

Lori Elwell, the current Village School Pre-K Director and Kindergarten teacher, helped establish the Pre-K Program in 2013 and has worked diligently over the years to develop it. She will take on an expanded role as Pre-K Director and a Pre-K teacher for 2023-2024. “It’s an exciting time for our program,” said Mrs. Elwell. “I am glad that we will be able to provide more opportunities for our community’s children to reap the benefits from early childhood learning and social interaction.” Pre-K teachers Amy Bishop and Kelsey Surdam are also looking forward to growing the program.

There are still several openings for children who will be three, four, and five years old for the 2023-2024 school year. Anyone interested in applying can contact the Village School at or 802-442-5955.

Mrs. Elwell’s transition means that we are beginning the search for a new Kindergarten Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. If you know of anyone who would be interested in this position, please direct them to the job posting on our website at

One final note: Our school has seen a number of cases of Norovirus this week. While it usually does not cause severe illness, it is a highly contagious virus that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Click here to read a letter from Nurse Hewson about actions you can take to help limit the spread of the illness.

Have a good and healthy weekend!
