Dear Families,

Thank you to all who turned out to vote in our local elections and for the school budget on Town Meeting Day. I am pleased to share that the North Bennington Graded School District education budget and the Village School tuition both passed with over 70 percent of the votes. These are great results, especially at a time when nearly a third of all Vermont school budgets failed on Town Meeting Day. We deeply value our community’s continued vote of confidence in supporting the Village School.

Today marks the end of the second trimester. Hopefully many of you have had your parent-teacher conferences and student-led teacher conferences for the fifth and sixth grades. Progress reports will be generated next week, and your student’s teacher will let you know when to expect them to be sent home. As a reminder, there will be no school next Friday, March 15th.

Toward the end of the school day, I had the pleasure of going outside with Mr. Ulrich and his students to make pancakes, which we enjoyed with the students’ freshly made maple syrup. As I’m sure many of you have noticed, Mr. Ulrich and his students have been tapping maples on our school’s front lawn and also at The Park–McCullough Historic Governor’s Mansion. Each year second graders are part of this wonderful tradition of learning the science of making maple syrup. Photos of students tapping maples are posted on our website at this link.

Don’t forget to change your clocks for Daylight Savings on Sunday, March 10th!

Have a good weekend,

Tim
