Dear Families,

The 2024-25 Calendar At-a-Glance is available on our website at this link: When I begin the process of drafting the new calendar, I refer to the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union’s calendar to align with their scheduling as far as it makes sense for our school given the overlap for families and staff in our region. One notable exception is the Junior Instructional Ski Program (JISP) half-days in the winter. Whereas the SVSU will have half-day Wednesdays throughout the JISP season, our school will only have three half days. We made this decision in the best interest of our students’ education and understanding it can be challenging for families to provide childcare on half days. We will continue to be supportive of students participating in JISP during this time.

During the 2024-25 school year, many of the faculty and staff half- and full-days of in-service will be used to work on the Village School’s 10-year accreditation with the Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE). The AISNE accreditation provides quality assurance that a school is meeting rigorous standards in all aspects of its operations, emphasizes institutional health, and promotes continuous school improvement. The ultimate goal of the accreditation process is the enhancement of student learning and growth.

As we look toward the end of the school year, I am happy to announce that two parent volunteers, Jennifer McKenna and Sarah Peacock, are helping our school to resume the Staff Appreciation Luncheon, a tradition of thanking the faculty and staff with a luncheon on the last day of school. A flier went home this week asking families to contribute a food dish and/or assist with setup or clean up for the Staff Appreciation Luncheon. If you would like to help, please return that reply form to your student’s teacher or you can click here to reply online with the Google Sign Up Form. Please reply by June 7th if you would like to participate!

A big round of thanks to Leslie Koelker for outdoing herself on the yearbook once again! Ordering instructions are below if you did not already get a copy. We are so grateful for the extra time, effort, and considerable talent that Mrs. Koelker lends to our yearbook every year.

Thank you also to our Girls on the Run students and coaches for their successful car wash fundraiser. They definitely put the “fun” into fundraising this week, as you can see from the photos at this link. Thanks to their initiative and all of their patrons, they raised more than $360 for the Village School!

Hopefully our Second Grade is having a wonderful field trip camping at Silver Lake and visiting the Montshire Museum, and Billings Farm Museum today and tomorrow. I am excited to join our  Sixth Graders tomorrow on their end-of-year field trip to the Boston Museum of Science and for a guided “Walk Into History” tour of the Freedom Trail.

Have a good afternoon,
