Kristen Blaker
Vermont Arts Exchange Teaching Artist
Contact: kblaker@vsnb.org
Kristen Blaker began working at the Vermont Arts Exchange in 2012 and is excited to teach art through the VAE/VSNB partnership again this year. Before coming to Vermont, Mrs. Blaker taught elementary and middle school art and provided art classes for the community out of her studio in Colorado. During the past five years since moving to Vermont, she has enjoyed teaching art to a diverse group of students ranging from veterans to people with developmental disabilities,
and youth who have experienced severe trauma. When she is not teaching art, you might find Mrs. Blaker with her three very creative young children at the library, the park, playing tennis, or swimming at our favorite lake. Mrs. Blaker believes in the power of creativity to help students
transform, heal, empower, and grow. Mrs. Blaker has a master’s degree in Education and a B.A. in Psychology.
Mission
Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child's curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves - responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
