Welcome back for the 2022-2023 school year!
We are excited to welcome your students back to school tomorrow, Thursday, September 1st! The lobby doors will open at 8 a.m. for students in K-6. The official school day begins at 8:15 a.m. with children expected to be in their classrooms at this time. The School Day procedures for Arrival, Dismissal, and Visiting the school are posted on our website at this link: https://vsnb.org/back-to-school-info-2022-23/.
The weather forecast looks good for the first day of school, and we have a lot of fun events planned outside! After students settle into their classrooms, they will head outdoors for activities and games. Students are encouraged to wear their school T-shirts and bring water bottles. VSNB items will be on sale at arrival time: T-shirts for $10, water bottles for $2, and 2021-22 yearbooks for $15 (please bring cash or a check).
Our traditional First Day Assembly will take place at 10:30 a.m. on the basketball court. Families are welcome to attend (standing room only). Students will gather for an all-school photo after the assembly, and then everyone is invited for the First Day Parade at 11 a.m. Classes will be gathered on the basketball court, and the parade route starts out on Church Street.
Students will be dismissed from school at 11:30 a.m. and are invited to enjoy a free all-school BBQ on the front lawn with family and staff members. There are a few picnic tables available, and you are welcome to bring blankets and chairs.
Another fun event on the first day of school is the McCullough Library’s back-to-school ice cream social, taking place at 12:30 p.m. on the Library Lawn. Visit the McCullough Library website to see the announcement for this event.
As a final reminder, there will be no breakfast, Morning Gym, or After School Program on September 1st. Morning Gym and Breakfast will start on Friday, September 2; the After School Program will start on Tuesday, September 6. Registration for the After School Program is available at this link: www.bfymca.org/vsnbsa.
Official 2022-2023 school year information and procedures are posted on the Village School website at this link: https://vsnb.org/back-to-school-info-2022-23/. The Village School’s main method of all-school communications to parents/guardians is via email and text message. Families are also encouraged to review the Village School Student and Family Handbook for our school’s complete policies and procedures.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child(ren) for another rewarding school year ahead. Education is a partnership with families, and we are grateful for your support and involvement!
