Giving

Village School of North Bennington families, alumni, trustees and friends “give” to the school in many ways—both through volunteering and financial gifts. As volunteers, ambassadors, and long-time gifters, your contributions make a tremendous difference in helping the school to succeed and advance its mission.

Volunteering

Our school is fortunate to have a broad range of volunteers – parents and community members assisting with our Friends of the Village School organization; grandfriends working with one or two students on an individual basis; Bennington College students teaching world languages, retired teachers assisting in the Library;  Four Winds Nature program volunteers and those helping with our Farm to School Gardening Program in conjunction with the nearby Hiland Hall Gardens.   If you have an interest in volunteering your time and talents – even if it’s only for an hour a month, we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact us at info@vsnb.org.

Volunteering

Volunteers are essential to the success of any school, and the Village School is no exception. The school depends on parents, relatives, alumni and community members for support and to help the school  thrive as a hub for growth and learning. We welcome and encourage volunteers to share their time, energy and talents and to model the importance of service within the community.

The following are just a sampling of the ways that community members can volunteer at VSNB:

  • Helping with Friends of the Village School activities and fundraisers (FVS maintains an email list and notifies “Friends” of current needs and opportunities; if you would like to add your email address to the list, please contact friends@vsnb.org.)
  • Giving of your time as a reading partner for students who need a little extra assistance
  • Assisting as an after-school tutor and helping students with home work
  • Aiding the office with administrative support (e.g. mailings, data entry, etc.)
  • Volunteering in the library
  • Becoming a Four Winds Nature Program volunteer.  (Please contact jbrower@vsnb.org for more information on serving as a Four Winds volunteer.)

If you’d like to participate in one of the listed activities or have an interest beyond what’s noted here, please contact us at 802-442-5955 or info@vsnb.org.

Mission

Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child's curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves - responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
