Students enjoyed their first week at the Hiland Hall Gardens with new Garden Teacher Amy Newbold. Digging, harvesting and exploring new taste sensations were all part of the fun. Some students conducted food experiments, others canned their own pickles, and some participated in the after-school Farmers’ Market, raising $20 for the Garden Program and providing families with fresh seasonal vegetables and gorgeous flowers. Look forward to more stories, vegetables, and recipes from the fall garden as students step outside the classroom to learn about caring for the earth, growing food, and eating healthfully.
