Leaf Art

The Mile Around Woods is a setting for fun and learning for many Village School classes. While walking the fields and woods, Fourth Grade Teacher Pat Gibbons and her students collected autumn leaves that caught their eyes. Back in the classroom, Vermont Arts Exchange Teaching Artist Caitilin McAdoo read the book What I Did With a Leaf, by Morteza E. Sohi, as inspiration for the students to consider how they could use their leaves to create art. She asked them what they see when looking at the leaves’ shapes and textures. Below are an array of the resulting leaf collages.

Mission

Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child's curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves - responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
