Good Day, Village School Families:

Many of you may already be aware that the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union (SVSU) just released their reopening plan for September (https://www.svsu.org/apps/pages/COVID19). They plan to start the year with remote learning for all grade levels. I have no doubt this makes many of you wonder if we will change our reopening plan. Other schools in our area are making different plans; for example, Fisher Elementary, The Mountain School in Winhall, and Marlboro School are all planning to open for in-person instruction in the fall. We will take all of the thinking and factors going into these different plans, as well as the unique circumstances of our school and community, into consideration as we further evaluate what is the best option for the Village School.

Back in the spring, we demonstrated that our school community is flexible, innovative, and incredibly committed to our students and families. No matter the modality of instruction in which we start the school year, I have no doubt we will do it as safely as possible and with students’ and families’ best interests at heart. Over the next week or so, we will take the time needed to fully review the data, consult with colleagues, and talk with experts so we can make an informed decision regarding our plan going forward.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support during this challenging time.

Warm regards,

Tim Newbold
