Dear Families,
Happy Thanksgiving! While this holiday will no doubt look very different than in the past, we hope you can reflect on all of the things that you still have to be thankful for this year. We are thankful for each and every one of you and your students, and the continued support you provide to help keep our community safe and our doors open.
Please note a few items below that may be of relevance to you and your kids, including the most up-to-date information we have about the COVID-19 Rapid Diagnostic Testing site that is expected to be up and running in Bennington starting next week.
Wishing everyone a healthy and enjoyable Thanksgiving week! We look forward to seeing your students back at school on Monday, November 30.
Warm regards,
Tim Newbold

COVID-19 Rapid Diagnostic Testing
The Vermont Department of Health and other agencies have put great effort into rapidly increasing access to novel coronavirus testing. The Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) and Bennington Rescue Squad, working with the state, CIC Health, and the Broad Institute, have developed a collecting site that is expected to be up and running beginning Monday, November 23rd. Recommendations on who should go for testing include the following:
- Near and close contacts (households, worksites and events where there has been a case) to be tested immediately and again after 7 days
- Anyone who plans to participate in a gathering/event
- Anyone who has attended a gather/event
- Anyone who travelled out of state
- Anyone who has a visitor from out-of-state
- College students returning to Vermont
SVMC is continuously working to minimize the spread of COVID-19, while ensuring safety for patients and their families. Testing site information, updates and links to COVID-19 resources are available on the SVMC website at https://svhealthcare.org/COVID-19/LatestTest.
JISP Update
In case you missed it, JISP Town Chair Heather Bullock sent out the message that “the BOC and Bromley Mountain had to make the extremely difficult decision to cancel JISP, KAP and Mini-KAP for the upcoming ski season.” She added: “Although we are not surprised, it is certainly disheartening just the same but keeping everyone safe is the main priority.” They are presently working out the details to provide discounted passes for students and parents this season.
