A Sense of Family

“The close-knit community of the Village School provides such a warm and engaging learning environment for our children. We love the small class sizes and have found the teachers, administration, and staff to be both professional and kind. Beyond the excellent classroom instruction, our children are already learning about how food grows in garden class, being exposed to foreign languages, and participating in assemblies and events that connect the students to the broader North Bennington community. We love the Village School!”

A Place Where Students are Truly Known, Supported, and Encouraged to be Themselves

“We are so grateful to have our son as part of the VSNB community. When he first started a few years ago, he could be quite shy, but through the consistency, support, and close-knit atmosphere of the school, we’ve watched him truly come out of his shell. Watching him share his personality with his school community and seeing his confidence grow has been such a joy for our family.

What makes VSNB so special is the sense of community it fosters. We’ve found the teachers and administration to be incredibly collaborative, supportive, and welcoming — not just for our son, but for our whole family. It’s easy to see the genuine care they have for each student. They work together to create an environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and valued.

VSNB has managed to hold onto the small-town Vermont school feel that I remember so fondly from my own childhood. In a world that moves so fast, that slower, more personal pace feels refreshing — a place where students are truly known, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a caring community.”

Why I Chose The Village School of North Bennington as a Parent and Returned as a Teacher

Submitted by Elizabeth Dicranian (VSNB Kindergarten Teacher)

I began my journey at the Village School of North Bennington (VSNB) as a parent. All three of my children attended VSNB, and that is where my love for this school began. My children have grown into wonderful young men, and I owe much of their success to their time at VSNB. The school has been incredibly supportive of my children and of our family as a whole.

I am deeply thankful that my children were able to be part of such an amazing, one-of-a-kind school. They learned countless valuable skills and formed strong, lasting relationships with other students (connections they continue to maintain) as well as with the school staff. I always knew that when my children were at VSNB, they were truly safe, loved, and cared for by everyone there. For that, I will forever be grateful. If they could have continued their entire educational journey at VSNB, I would have gladly kept them there.

Although two out of my three children have since moved on to middle school and high school, I feel incredibly fortunate to remain connected to VSNB this year as a parent and now as a teacher, too. In many ways, it feels like coming home.

I have previously worked at other schools in the district, but none compare to the Village School of North Bennington. VSNB is truly unique. I have never encountered another school or program so deeply involved in its community, so intentional about fostering relationships among students of all ages, or so clearly committed to caring for each child. I believe I can speak for many families and staff members when I say that VSNB feels like a true community (more like a family) where everyone genuinely cares for one another.

I am very thankful to be part of this remarkable school. As a teacher, my goal is to provide my students with the same love, care, and high-quality education that VSNB gave my own children during their time at VSNB.
