Carla Boyle-Wight (They/Them) is the Music Teacher and Band/Chorus Director at the Village School of North Bennington. Teacher Carla holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of New Hampshire and is halfway through a Master of Music Education from Castleton University. They are also participating in a Bachelor Equivalency program in Music Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Prior to working at the Village School, Teacher Carla taught PreK-6 classroom music and chorus in the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union and worked as Boating Director at a youth summer camp in Maine. They believe that musical learning is integral to the human experience and to the growth of minds (both young and young-at-heart). In music classes, Teacher Carla utilizes singing, movement, and collaborative creation to guide learners toward a greater understanding of music. They believe that all learners should be welcomed and affirmed in their classroom and thus strive to build an environment where each child can be their true selves and explore their creativity, expressiveness, and Awesome Music-Making Power (TM).

Mission

Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child's curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves - responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
