Director of Extracurricular Activities
Rachel Maher serves as the Village School’s Director of Extracurricular Activities, running both the Before and After Care Program and the Afterschool Enrichment Program. On occasion, one might find Mrs. Maher working throughout the school as a substitute teacher or even filling in at the main office. Mrs. Maher holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College and a B.A. in English from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). Prior to her work at the Village School, she taught college composition and literature courses at MCLA. Mrs. Maher lives in the North Bennington area with her husband and three sons. When not at the Village School, she writes and publishes fiction, poetry, and personal essays. She also enjoys teaching creative writing to children and teens, often tutoring and running writing camps or classes in her spare time.
Children are at the heart of all we do. We nurture a child’s curiosity, ignite enthusiasm for exploring, develop tools for inquiry, for invention, for achievement. We welcome families into a community-wide collaboration to help our children grow into their best selves – responsible citizens and stewards of the greater world, makers of the future.
